I grew up in Sudan, TX, and graduated from Sudan High School. I attended Abilene Christian University in Abilene, TX, and graduated with a B.A. in 1985. I have also attend Sunset International Biblical Institute in Lubbock, TX. I received my teaching credentials through the University of Texas in the Permian Basin in Odessa, TX.
I am currently certified by the State of Texas to teach Music, K-12 and Composite Social Studies, 7-12.
I have taught elementary music at Colonial Heights and have been an assistant band director at the High School and Middle School since I started working for BISD in August, 2016.
My first teaching position was for the Campbell Christian Schools in Campbell, CA, where I taught elementary music, beginning and middle school choir and band, and middle school Bible Classes. After that I served as a youth minister and a pastor for a combined 23 years before moving back into education. Before coming to Brownfield, I working in the online education lab and in DAEP at Dimmit High School, Dimmit, TX, and taught HS Social Studies and was the assistant Band Director at Morton High School, Morton, Texas. As a minister, I was in charge of the education program wherever I worked, was active in a youth leadership development program, and taught a class in a seminary in Singapore, Singapore.
My wife, Marsha, and I got married in 1986. We have three adult children. Our oldest in married, living in Chicago, IL, and raising our two grandsons. Our middle child is living with us and helping take care of my mother-in-law. Our youngest is teaching Elementary Music in Lubbock, TX.
We have a total of three dogs and two cats that are currently ruling the roost in our home.
I play trombone in the West Winds Brass Band. We rehearse and perform in Lubbock. Our performance times can be found in my Google Calendar here on my website.
